Now that 2018 is upon us, it’s time to make some predictions about what we think 2018 will bring. Which golfers are going to make 2018 their best year yet? Who’s going to struggle? Are the big names, like Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas, going to dominate? Or will there be a lot of low-key winners? I’m going to make some predictions in this post and I’m interested to see what others think of them.
2018 Player of the Year – Rickie Fowler. Rickie is on the way up – his career has continued to progress and he had a great 2017 – we’ll be seeing his name on many leaderboards in 2018. The only question is how many times will he finish on top?
Major Champions – Spieth, Rose, Fowler, and Phil. I think Phil wins at the US Open – he’s due for a win and has been doing well health-wise since his surgeries. As for the other three, Rose looks like a good choice for this years’ Masters; he performs well at Augusta and may want the jacket after a close call in 2017. Spieth and Fowler are two of the younger players that have already shown they can compete at the highest level – Spieth wins the Open and Fowler wins the PGA Championship.
Players to watch in 2018 – Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, Hideki Matsuyama. It was hard picking just three golfers for this one, but these three are names that shouldn’t shock you if you see them on top of the leaderboards. Xander was Rookie of the Year last season and has shown he has serious game after winning the Tour Championship. Both Rahm and Hideki have won on the PGA Tour and seem to be close to taking that next step towards winning a major. While I don’t think they win any majors this year, keep your eyes on them because they will both notch at least one victory.
2018 is knocking on the door and we can’t wait to see what happens this year on the PGA Tour!
