The Open has come and gone and boy was it a good one! There was plenty to take away from this Open. Tiger came back and even had the lead at one point during the final round. Francesco Molinari continued his hot streak and picked up another win and Italy's first major win. Rory McIlroy played very well and was also tied for the lead at one point. Justin Rose managed to finish in a tie for second after making the cut right on the line at +3. Spieth was right up there until he struggled on Sunday; Carnoustie got the best of him.
The links at Carnoustie proved to be a timeless test of golf. The players were given some chances to score well and then at other times had to hold on for dear life. When the wind was low and the course wasn't completely dried out, the players were able to take advantage and make their birdies. When the wind picked up and the sun was shining the course played very firm and the players had to grind for their pars.
One thing I couldn't help but love was Bernhard Langer sticking around for the weekend and ending up not too far behind the leaders. This is a guy who has dominated the Champions Tour since he joined almost 10 years ago and is only getting better with age. This man is 60-years-old and is keeping up with the 25-year-olds; that's incredible considering the length of the courses these guys have to play.
The PGA is coming up in August - who do you like? Some of the big names - DJ, Tiger, Spieth - or some of the lowkey guys - Schauffele, Finau, etc. Hopefully this major is as exciting as the Open was!
